How do I prepare for a spray tan?

Exfoliate and shave the day before your session. This will get rid of any dead skin and provide a more even skin surface for the solution, it will also help the tan fade evenly towards the end of your spray. You will want to avoid any perfumes, lotion, oils or deodorant the day of, as they can create barriers on the skin, which will lead to uneven application and absorption of solution.

What do I wear to my spray tan?

Wear loose clothing in dark colors, preferably something you wont mind color getting on. The color may wash out, but it's not guaranteed. Your bra should also be loose fitting (no sports bras), you may even want to leave it off after your treatment. Avoid any moisture wicking or tight fitting fabrics such as workout clothing. Avoid tight, intricate shoes, as they may rub off the color while developing.

While doing the Pura Sunless booth, you can wear as little or as much as you want to, as you are in the room alone.

When can I shower?

It depends on which spray you choose. In our Pura booth, we recommend 8-10 hours before rinsing though you may rinse sooner if you prefer a lighter tan. For our airbrush spray tans, we use Norvell Venetian One and Selfie Glow Power Hour solutions. As both of these solutions are rapid developers, rinse time would be 1-3 hours after application, depending on your desired level of darkness.

Please note, for both Pura and Airbrush tans, your first rinse should not involve any soaps, it is a cool water rinse only. You may use soaps and lotions 24 hours after your first rinse.

What should I do after my spray tan?

After your spray, you will want to avoid anything that will cause you to sweat or involving water, as this can leave streaks or marks on the skin. After your shower (not rinse) you will want to make sure you moisturize your skin. Avoid anything that has mineral oil or other stripping ingredients as this will make your tan fade faster. We recommend Norvell and Selfie Sunless post tan products.

Am I protected from the sun?

No, spray tans only apply a cosmetic color to the skin. There is no sun protection in the solution. If you will be exposed to sun, please take the proper precautions.
